History

Katghora (22°30’40” N 82°32’60”E) is a tribal dominated Tehsil of Korba district in the state of Chhattisgarh. This place is 30 kms. from Korba and 200 kms. from the state capital Raipur. Government Mukut Dhar Pandey College was established on 5 August, 1985 by the then Govt. of Madhya Pradesh. The new building came in to existence in October 1996. Earlier to it, the college functioned at tribal basic school campus.

Initially the college had only Arts stream. In the session 2010-11, science stream was initiated along with bachelors in Commerce. Simultaneously, the Jan Bhagidari Samiti initiated for some additional courses like Masters in Political Science, History, Hindi and Commerce. Masters in Chemistry and Zoology was also initiated in the same session.
